ShortURL Actions: Edit

Description: Edit allows you to update a short link’s target, slug options, tracking, groups/tags, and UTMs. How it works: AegisLink loads the existing short link post and updates metadata on save. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Edit. Recommended setting: Edit rather than delete when campaigns move; preserve history and analytics continuity where possible.

UTM Fields: Source / Medium / Campaign / Term / Content

Description: Standard UTM parameters used by analytics platforms for attribution and reporting. How it works: AegisLink stores each UTM field and appends them to the final redirect destination when enabled. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → UTM fields → Save. Recommended setting: Use consistent naming conventions (source=facebook, medium=social, campaign=summer-sale).

UTM Builder: Enable per-link UTMs

Description: Allows you to append UTM parameters for marketing attribution without altering your stored base target URL. How it works: AegisLink appends UTM parameters at redirect-time when UTM is enabled for that short link. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → UTM enable + fields → Save. Recommended setting: Enable UTMs for campaign links you share externally (social, email, ads).

Short Link Organization: Tags

Description: Tags provide flexible labels for short links such as black-friday, instagram, or promo. How it works: AegisLink assigns tag terms to each short link to support cross-cutting filters. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Tags (comma-separated) → Save. Recommended setting: Use Tags for channel and campaign labels (facebook, email, qr, seasonal).

Short Link Organization: Groups (Categories)

Description: Groups let you organize short links into structured categories like Affiliates, Partners, or Products. How it works: AegisLink assigns hierarchical group terms to each short link for filtering and reporting. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Groups (comma-separated) → Save. Recommended setting: Use Groups for high-level organization (Products, Categories, Campaigns).

Short Link Field: rel attributes (nofollow / sponsored)

Description: Stores per-link rel preferences for generated link output and sharing conventions. How it works: AegisLink saves rel flags so you can standardize SEO behavior for certain link types. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → rel attributes → Save. Recommended setting: Use sponsored for affiliate/paid links; keep nofollow enabled for most promotional links.

Short Link Field: Per-link Click Tracking Toggle

Description: Controls whether this specific short link records clicks. How it works: When enabled, AegisLink logs click events; when disabled, redirects still work without logging. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Tracking → Save. Recommended setting: Disable on internal admin-only links; enable on public marketing links.

Short Link Field: Per-link Redirect Code

Description: Overrides the default redirect type for a specific link. How it works: AegisLink stores the redirect code as link metadata and applies it during redirect. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Redirect → Save. Recommended setting: Use 301 for permanent mapping; use 302 for campaigns; use 307 if you need method-preserving redirects.

Short Link Field: Short Slug uniqueness

Description: Each Short Slug must be unique so your short link resolves correctly. How it works: AegisLink checks if the slug already exists and blocks duplicates. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Short Slug → Save. Recommended setting: Use short, readable slugs: product-name, black-friday, summer-sale.

Short Link Field: Target URL validation

Description: Target URL must be a valid http(s) URL to prevent broken redirects. How it works: AegisLink validates that the URL begins with http:// or https:// before saving. How to access / enable: WP Admin → AegisLink → ShortURL Links → Manage → Target URL → Save. Recommended setting: Always use the canonical URL you want users to reach (final destination).
